Transport technology and services company EROAD has formed an alliance with leading US trucking services company Glostone Trucking Solutions, establishing Glostone as an EROAD dealer in the USA and Canada.
EROAD CEO Steven Newman concluded the deal with Glostone recently in Portland, Oregon, during a visit to EROAD’s US business.
Mr Newman said that many US trucking fleets used specialist providers like Glostone to help them meet their weight-mile tax and compliance commitments, and EROAD was delighted that Glostone saw an opportunity to use EROAD’s solution to help its customers.
“We’re pleased they see a valuable role for EROAD’s solution in terms of electronic record keeping and tax and compliance services,” said Mr Newman.
Glostone President Dave Gray said he was extremely impressed with the accuracy, reliability and ease of use of the EROAD in-cab technology system.
“We prepare road use taxes for hundreds of carriers and work with data generated from a number of other on board systems. EROAD is the only system independently tested and approved by the State of Oregon for tracking distance and weight group configurations used in the payment of its Oregon Weight Mile Tax,” he said.
“I would recommend EROAD to any carrier requiring accurate distance data for tax reporting and record keeping as part of their in-cab technology solution.”
Oregon is one of four states in the USA that levies a weight-mile tax for heavy vehicles, similar to New Zealand road user charges (RUC). EROAD launched its electronic RUC service in New Zealand in 2009, the world’s first nationwide GPS-based tolling solution, and today collects more than 20% of New Zealand’s heavy vehicle RUC.
EROAD added a second reference site in Oregon, USA, in April when it launched its electronic weight-mile tax solution, and has been pleased by the market’s response.
