Matt has worked in the fleet world for over 15 years, firstly at BP, before moving to the NZ Police Fleet Team where he spent 11 years. During his time with the Police he delivered the first Skoda patrol car for the fleet. Now Fleet Manager at WorkSafe New Zealand he looks after a fleet of over 200 vehicles and uses EROAD data insights to improve the way their fleet is used.
Jack is the founder and Managing Director of OptiFleet. Jack and the OptiFleet team are industry experts delivering unique consultancy services, developing bespoke technology tools and asset management solutions. The team has a strong focus on product and process sustainability, driver and vehicle safety, independent lifecycle modelling, assisting with the transition to low emission and electric vehicles through the development of tailored decarbonisation planning and implementation. OptiFleet lead with fleet audits, change behaviour and management planning for decarbonisation, evidence-based GPS led optimisation studies, fit-for-purpose vehicle requirements/specifications, strategic capital replacement plans and new vehicle procurement.
Effectively managing the transition to electric vehicles (including their integration into broader business processes) is the most significant challenge facing fleet managers in 2023. In this session, Ben Selwyn will share insights from ACA’s Fleet Insights research, talking about how fleet’s are progressing on the journey to electrification, how this varies between the New Zealand and Australian markets, and the key actions that leaders are taking to stand out from the crowd and prepare their business for the future. Ben Selwyn is a highly experienced research consultant who works closely with clients in the automotive, construction, financial services, and technology sectors. Ben leads the ACA Research automotive practice, providing strategic insights to leading OEMs, aftermarket suppliers, FMOs, and technology providers, leveraging his industry knowledge and research expertise to help them uncover actionable insights that empower them to move forward with confidence.
Jonny has spent over 20 years working within the energy and sustainability industry. His multitude of roles across low carbon technology and commercial energy efficiency gives him a wide breadth of knowledge. Jonny is one of the leading EV charging infrastructure experts in NZ with years of experience integrating smart charging systems to support the growing needs of Electric Vehicles. Jonny and his team at Thundergrid help fleet operators transition to electric by doing the heavy work in designing, installing, and managing mass EV charging infrastructure across homes and facilities to make it easy.
Soumya Puri is the Product Manager for EROAD’s video telematics category. After graduating with First Class Honours in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Auckland, Soumya joined the EROAD Graduate Program in 2016 and has experience in software engineering, project management and product management. He recently obtained an MBA from the University of Auckland. Soumya is passionate about improving lives through innovation. He has helped bring several new EROAD products to market, most notably the EROAD Clarity Dashcam – an advanced piece of hardware, featuring multiple cutting-edge technologies. Soumya’s engineering background and deep customer insight have helped shape and deliver innovative product features that achieve customer outcomes.
Richard Edwards is a seasoned automotive journalist and the owner and editorial director of the Auto Media Group. With over two decades of experience in the industry, he oversees the publication of AutoTalk – New Zealand's premier magazine for dealers and trade professionals, as well as EVs and Beyond, which keeps readers updated on the latest electric vehicle news from New Zealand and abroad, and TransportTalk, covering the freight, logistics, and heavy equipment industries. Richard is renowned for his expertise in reviewing electric vehicles and reviewing vehicles for company fleets purposes. He is also a past president of the New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild.
Danusia Wypych leads ChargeNet, New Zealand’s nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network. She has a diverse background in key New Zealand industries including the energy and transport sectors. She served most recently as Head of New Ventures and Transformation Program Manager at Transpower New Zealand where she led the delivery of innovation programmes. Danusia holds a BSc in Chemistry and Technology, and an LLB specialising in environmental and international law from Victoria University of Wellington, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Marketing from Monash University. As ChargeNet CEO, she is well-positioned to lead the charging industry’s commercial maturation and help drive Aotearoa’s move to a low-carbon future.
