In the race to net-zero, transport is one of the hardest to abate sectors. The Transport sector makes up 21% of NZ’s emissions and will come under increasing pressure to decarbonise over the next 10 years.

New Zealand’s heavy vehicle fleet is now more than 18 years old, which has a huge influence on heavy vehicle emissions and fuel consumption. Demand for electric and hybrid vehicles has increased rapidly, but for heavy vehicles, swapping a 600-horsepower diesel tractor unit for an EV isn’t all that easy yet. So what’s the alternative?
