EROAD’s rapid growth has necessitated moving premises as it scales up for international expansion. The company’s new offices and factory in Albany were officially opened by Prime Minister John Key on 13 June.
“There is a very vibrant technology sector in New Zealand. It’s growing rapidly and taking New Zealand technology and New Zealand ingenuity to the world,” Mr Key said. “We love this company. It’s developing new technology that can be used around the world.”
EROAD’s Chairman Michael Bushby said, “What EROAD brings is world leading technology, which has led to the company’s growth. It’s growth that has produced skilled jobs and it’s bringing wealth and innovation into the community here which can now be exported as EROAD grows overseas.”
EROAD CEO Steven Newman said the company had come a long way in a short time and had exciting times ahead. Its partnerships with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Vodafone mean it can enter new markets very quickly.
“Vodafone’s Global Data Service Platform is an integral part of our global solution, enabling us to connect to over 530 cellular networks around the world. It also allows our clients to manage their fleets around the world, across multiple countries,” he said.
“I’m also delighted to announce our partnership with AWS. Moving our IT production infrastructure into the Amazon enterprise cloud gives us the scalability and resilience we need to expand into America and Australia.”
Ed Lenta, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, AWS, said he was delighted EROAD has selected the AWS infrastructure to deliver the elasticity and robust platform required for its expansion ambitions.

Julia Dol, Head of Enterprise & Government, Vodafone NZ, said Vodafone had been working with EROAD since 2008. “The innovation that we’ve seen EROAD bring to what is a very conservative industry is really quite outstanding,” she said. “We’re proud to be part of that.”
